OK you look daft with dabs of pink all over you, but it does ease the itching. The best thing is not to get bitten though. DEET is meant to be the most effective insect repellent, though an item on ‘Gardeners Question Time’ he other week suggested that rubbing Bog Myrtle leaves on yourself was effective.

I am exactly the opposite. When they bite me it is the mosquitoes that have to go away and scratch!
