One could argue it’s an apposite colour for Queen of the South?
For future reference, aluminium needs priming before painting, but the primers tend to be quite nasty.

They don’t *usually* paint signs these days – it’s more often a coloured film bonded to the substrate (which can also be plastic to discourage the theft of the signs by ne’er-do-wells for scrap) and then the text applied using stick on lettering.
Of course D&G council couldn’t possibly be telling fibs because someone interchanged the digits of the RAL code could they…

NICE! Same colour as my daughter’s beloved Volvo. I suspect incompentence on the part of the sign “painters” Also who allowed them to be installed without prior inspection and approval? I am sure the local taxpayers will get to foot the bill to correct the mistake.

I think the contractors are paying to sort it out. But you do have to wonder that someone didn’t notice earlier. It’s not a subtle effect…

Here’s a colour chart – http://www.colourcode.net/ral.htm – not complete – but you can see how easy it is to get very wrong based on communicating only a code. I ordered a lot of silkscreen-printed items at work and the idiots managed to take the Pantone 286 blue from the order and apply Pantone quite-something-else green…
