It’s comforting to know that however far you may roam
And however secure you may feel
Messrs Health ‘n’ Safety have got there before us to assess all the dangers and point them out to us, sometimes with little pictures:

Even the ones we might reasonably expect to have handled before
And yet, amazingly, they let us out to cross the road – and drive home – without any warnings at all.
(all images taken from one not-very-dangerous heritage site – by no means the worst offender. And that wasn’t even all of them…)

I feel sorry for the goblins, they must be feeling hard done by with all this emphasis on elfin safety!

I’m a bit conflicted about slagging off health and safety because in its place (quarries, say, or building sites, where people can actually get killed) it’s important. But I’d prefer my ancient Roman remains not to be littered with little signs pointing out the bleeding obvious…

Love the wall! ‘Caution – contains rocks’. How we risk life and limb by rising from bed every morning. Very funny.

What is scary is the warning stickers on household appliances (assuming you purchase the newer ones) It either means; they think you are totally incompetent or someone has done the stupid trick prior, like ironing clothes whilst wearing them…

er, you mean you haven’t ironed your clothes while wearing them, ever? Not that I would do anything so stupid of course, not even if I was in a real hurry, say for a job interview…

I noticed today that there’s a warning on the drivers door of my car not to leave the car without engaging the handbrake (in the obligatory 5 languages of course)
