The sheep are lying panting in whatever shade there is – there’s really nothing hotter looking than a hot sheep, even a recently sheared one. The dogs that regularly mark my passage on my bike have stopped telling me in great detail what they would do to me and my infernal machine were they not inconveniently chained up, and have been contenting themselves with a half-hearted ‘wuff’. And – you may have seen the white flash from London – I have recently donned a pair of shorts.
But not in the house. Even with all the windows open, all through the heat of the day, to step inside is to feel the chill clutch of the grave. Up until a couple of nights ago we were still using a hot water bottle. I’m guessing it’s the damp, that or letting the Rayburn out. Still, at least it means that if I’m ever tempted to utter those dread words ‘it’s t** h**’ I can go inside and lie down until the feeling goes away.

My shorts also made an appearance today as I forswore Sir Noel C’ard’s advice and headed out on the bike in the midday sun for a 23km flog. So if the white flash you spotted had a bluish tinge, it was my legs and not any impostors from the other side of the country.

I have not had enough to drink yet to risk wearing the shorts out-doors.

Yesterday’s temperatures – 12 first thing, then 28 by midday, then 17 early afternoon then 35 by tea-time – at the risk of attracting the Scottish weather Gods to move Sawf – WTF do you get dressed in when out for the day?

I went from Florida to Minnesota to experience the same 90 degree weather. Is there no variety in the world any longer?

PB & John – no photos, please …
J – you’re welcome to them.
Miss M – oh, come up here and wait 20 minutes & you’ll find plenty of variety

More shorts today – and the bluish tinge might be lessening – I’m sure I detected some colouration change at the edge of shorts interface. I shall not refer to it as a tan though – more of a deblueification.

Ha ha, we do feel the ‘chill clutch of the grave’ in our house at the present moment – it is in fact, cooler than outside. And since it’s winter out there, I’ll let you grasp our discomfort as only you can. Love that phrase.

Yet more shorts today. It can’t go on any longer (not until I wash all 3 pairs of shorts that I own at least). I’m now convinced that my legs are no longer blue-white – 3 days exposure to daylight after 20+ years of being covered up, I’m surprised there’s any melanin-producing capability left to be honest.
