A Right Pair

Finished!

That didn’t take very long, did it? Although now the other half wants a pair too, and that’s going to take a LOT longer.

I’m off to Manchester tomorrow to be cross-examined by some of the city’s finest legal minds about my book (in their book group, I hasten to add, not in court). As I’m pinned against the wall by their forensic questioning I shall stiffen my sinews by thinking to myself ‘ha, you might have got me there with your discovery of all those gaping holes in my plot but how many socks have YOU knitted?’

(although, come to think of it, there’s a couple of little holes in the socks too, if you look closely. Practice makes perfect…)

I’m incredibly impressed at how well the stripes match.

  2. disgruntled says:

they’re not bad are they? I’m actually pretty pleased with the way they turned out and I’ve been wearing them all day

  3. John Gibson says:

I find myself scrolling up and down between the socks and the stove, both impressive pictures.

  4. WOL says:

You did get the stripes to match wonderfully –clever you! I think socks like those would be so much fun to wear. I don’t wear shoes indoors. With 3 cats, too many tails and toes to step on. In the summer I go barefoot, but in the winter I wear heavy socks. I’ll have to look up those links you gave and see if I can’t knit me some socks for the winter.

  5. Kirsten says:

What with the stove and those well-knitted socks, you should be a wee bit warmer this winter. Great first pair, by the way!

It’s said that knitting socks for men spoils them thoroughly, causing them to quickly demand more pairs. I’m currently working on this experiment, so can’t speak from experience yet. Good luck tomorrow — I’m sure you’ll do fine!

  6. disgruntled says:

John – thanks! Naturally, now that I’ve got both socks and stove, of course the weather has gone mild again. Perhaps I’ve guaranteed a warmish winter?
WOL – give it a go, they really are easier than they look. If I can do it…
Kirsten – well, given he does most of the laundry and all of the hoovering, I’d say throwing him the odd pair of socks here and there isn’t going to ruin him

  7. Amaranthine says:

You have to have holes in socks otherwise you can’t get you feet in!

  8. disgruntled says:

hehe – although they don’t normally require ventilation holes in the ankles. (I could consider it a feature though)
