Andy – yeah, maybe wolves to start with.
WOL – definitely, I’m on the side of the lions here. Though I’d fight back (never give up!) if they attacked.
Kim – now there’s an untoppable tale. Although a friend of ours did encounter a leopard when he was out on foot on his own one afternoon. He reported it was really cool ‘until I lost sight of the leopard. Then it was really frightening’.
RTC – good point. We need fiercer sheep
Dom – just wait till one of your pumas mysteriously gets pregnant…

They’re pretty sure there’s some wild pumas in the UK. Possibly one up by us which could be fun if it’s male and he catches wind of the female at the zoo in heat. I think they’ve managed to survive by not savaging people and thus not bringing attention to themselves. I suspect your other half had greater numbers of free roaming ones in mind though.

If we did have mountain lions, lamb would become a luxury item! It’s virtually out of reach of my pocket already… But they are magnificent. As are wolves. Btw it was well worth enlarging your photos to read them fully.

Ah yes, it reminds me of the time I was stalked a jaguar in Peruvian rainforest…

I was carrying out an eye shine survey of large mammals, didn’t realise what it was until I got back and looked it up in Emmons. Early the same night I had been I had been followed by an Ocelot, I know that because I stood still until it walked up to me, had a close look, then turned around and walked away again…

I remember being told to ‘close all ground floor windows’ in college in Montana one wintery night because ‘A mountain lion was spotted near the campus’
Not exactly what you want to hear when you’ve go to go to lectures in a different building.

I’m not sure about lions, but I reckon Wolves would be a great addition to the UK.
