back in the mid 1970′s I worked as a Saturday girl in a flower/garden shop. Each year the lorry would come with sacks of best Scottish seed potatoes, we could never tell a word the driver was saying,his accent was so strong, whether I ever got his mug of tea made to his liking I shall never know. But I do remember the sweet smell of the spuds in their Hessian sacks.
Spud the dog says he’s been to the hairdressers today.

Probably just under 20, depending on the size of the tatty. I wouldn’t worry – I’ve probably only bought about half of what I need now that I think about it. And you’ve got some good varieties there (pink fir apple was sold out when I went…)

You have inspired me to do things properly. Yesterday I ordered 1kg each of 4 ‘Vintage’ tatties; Highland Burgundy Red,Edgecote Purple,Pink Fir apple and Belle de Fontenay. Beginning to feel I’ve overdone it, now you say you only have 3.5 kg! Internet doesn’t tell you how many seed potatoes in a kilo..

It wasn’t that many – I reckon about 3.5kg in all (plus another kilo for the litre of milk I picked up on the way). Enough to make a difference!
