Well there’s an idea! Humidity really is tricky in the summer, autumn is better as it cools off, rain or no rain. I have had drying herbs go mouldy in the woodshed during the summer…
May I tenatively suggest, ‘monster pickled onions’ ?

Andy – yes, I did wonder what you were doing going away for so long in the middle of summer (or ‘summer’).
Anon – you know, I toyed with the idea, and then decided to give the national stereotypes a miss for once…
Emma – onions and tatties is about all I’ve managed to grow! Airing the shed is a problem because it’s about 80% humidity inside and out but maybe I can string them round my neck and cycle around with them to dry them out. If it ever stops raining…

That looks very ingenious! Just keep the shed well aired, non?
I tied garlic in loose bunches and hung up in the airy woodshed mid-summer, and they dried (to my great surprise). Well done for getting onions at all..

I’m just envious that you can get to your garden and that you’re getting anything out of it at all -I suspect that by the time we get back the slugs and bugs will have combined to eat most of whatever has managed to grow.

They look fine like that. I’d just check them over now and then to make sure that they’re okay.
I had around 90 drying off on an old sheet on the floor in my spare room, which are now thankfully stored away in several plastic bread trays. xx
