Yes, I in particular took offence at the "drunk monkeys" comment. I mean, sheesh, some of us once had to make a living.
Other than that minor issue, I'm in full agreement.
Soldier on!

Whilst I'm a dyed-in-the-wool online shopper (since I placed my first order by 300 baud modem in 1983, first order via t'internet in 1989), even I recognise that the shops have their place. There are times when you need/want the instant gratification of buying something over a counter... I'm even prepared to pay a premium to do so.

My issues are (a) lack of choice (b) lack of stock (c) the size of the premium demanded.

If I want to buy an article, I want the one I selected not the one that is deemed to be the *one* the retailer selects to sell. I don't want to get to the counter and be told "we can order it in" (sure, so can I from home, get it delivered to home for less and not have to come back here 3 times because you can order it in but they won't deliver it) and finally the premium I'm prepared to pay: Over Christmas No. 1 son decided he would spend some of his money on a console game. Before we left I looked online and it was £15. Went into a troubled music & games shop £42. He's 9 and even he spotted that he'd rather not have the instant gratification and buy 2 games instead... If it had been £20 he'd have bought it. Oh and the £15 online game... ordered it from the car park, delivered next morning from a UK retailer not some CI-based one.
