The smart meter got off to a flying start this morning with the arrival of Rayburn man; after a couple of hours of scraping, fettling, setting the world to rights and a brief twitter tutorial, the Rayburn was ceremonially lit and our mornings can be somewhat more civilised again. I’m slightly dreading discovering just how much oil it does consume – we’ve already left it off a month longer than usual to keep our oil bill down and I don’t want to prolong the exercise.
On a day that more or less defined dreich it is no end of comfort to come in out of the rain to a warm Rayburn and it almost makes the coming winter feel as if it might be worth while. *Almost*.
