Rebranding

Now that I have a garden, this is not rain…

…it’s excellent growing weather.

At least I hope so, because it’s pretty miserable otherwise. Certainly the potatoes seem to like it, and the broad beans, and even the leeks have emerged, although none of them – apparently – to photographable size

And tell me, somebody, that this is a parsnip seedling:

because otherwise I’m going to have to give that up as a bad lot and plant again

I think it’s having trouble focusing on what it is. Have you tried mentoring, or counselling perhaps?

It’s the camera. For some reason it wants to take photographs of mud.

I have the same problem with walls as you know.

Pah, “if you don’t like rain don’t come to Scotland” they told me – luckily I do like rain (I lived in Manchester for 4 years and I think there were nearly 30 days without rain – when it snowed), and since my skin is basically waterproof I don’t see the problem with rain in moderation…

This is a parsnip seedling – the seed leaves look right – but then so many look like that…. more committal identification when the first “proper” leaves arrive.

It certainly looks like a parsnip seedling! As I may have said before germination is slow in cold weather and can take up to 28 days. xx

I am getting quite jealous. I am still doing the first digging over of my virgin veggie plot (14 days so far and my knees are feeling decidedly dodgy) – but the end is now in sight. Next the search for topsoil…

PB – It’s the ‘moderation’ part the rain has difficulty with over here.
Flighty – thanks for the confirmation. Germination is still pretty patchy, probably because I planted too early
Helen – I’m lucky in having inherited a plot that’s been in cultivation for ages.
