… a good sign when you’re trying to navigate down some tiny road in Northern Ireland, and you’re not 100% sure where you are but you’re pretty sure you’re heading north and that you’ll know it if you’ve gone too far, and then your phone beeps and you find you’ve got a text message that says
Welcome to the Republic of Ireland
No, that’s never a good sign at all.
And I’d say, well at least we got lots of mapping done, but frankly, you’re hardly going to trust any maps I draw now are you?
That’s rather an odd route to the Giant’s Causeway!
yeah, we took Dr. Johnson’s advice on that one in the end
What a lovely text message – I’d be delighted to receive that one, lost or not. Did you find out later where you had been at the time?
Yes – we figured it out in the end.
Doesn’t that happen rather a lot in border areas? I know when I was in Geneva my steam-powered mobile ran out of text message space thanks to all the “Welcome to France”/”Welcome to Switzerland” messages that arrived depending on which cellphone mast was most visible. (I never left Switzerland, but Geneva is surrounded on 3 sides by France)
