I tried to explain to a visiting cyclist, up from London, that we had our traffic problems too round here

But look – sometimes the road is completely blocked ahead

    What a lovely place. Very similar to parts of west Wales where we lived for 20 years before moving to Cardiff. Just one question: Are the natives friendly?

    The humans are, but not effusively so. The sheep run away before I can strike up any sort of a conversation

    Beeautiful – and remarkably New Zealand-like in look, but not from where I’m sitting. (It takes a good hour to get out of Auckland and reach the rolling pastures of the Waikato). Oh, to be cycling down a Scottish country lane right now!

    I remember something similar happening in our last village. Three (Three) tractors all stuck on the road.
