Child Labour

Babymother is visiting, complete with rather grown up babies. In desperation at the weeding backlog, I tried to harness the source of perpetual energy that is the small child to productive ends

feeding the hens

“see which of the weeds in the vegetable patches the chickens might like to eat”

Unfortunately, it turns out the hens are fussy eaters and prefer lettuce so we took them* cycling instead. It doesn’t do much for the weeds but they seem to have fallen asleep rather quickly. Fresh air and exercise, works every time.

*the children, not the hens.

  1. Andy in Germany says:

Our boys can always tell when we’re trying to trick them into ‘work’. We rarely manage it, although it has a higher chance of success if there are dangerous tools like scythes involved.

  2. disgruntled says:

We’ll have to try scythes next time, clearly
