Any Colour you Like, as Long as it’s Green

I’ll say something for a damp spring and an all-pervasive grey sky: it certainly makes all the spring greenery pop. My new-to-me phone camera doesn’t really do it justice but although the wind is icy and the sun is elusive, the greens are GREEN. Every blade of grass catches the light and shimmers in the wind and the fields just seem to glow with lush growth. The hedgerow flowers haven’t really started yet, and the bluebell woods are yet to come, but if you want verdure, we’ve got it.

Ah yes the green of Scotland, matched only by blue hands and red noses…..

It was a bit like that! Had to take my gloves off to take the picture, and put them on again sharpish afterwards

Tis an ill wind, as they say. Last summer after a load of landscaping we had to reseed our lawn. We held off through August, fearing that a dry spell would stop it germinating. It rained. We sowed in September – then had four bone dry weeks.

April, and we tried again. The following ten days were dry. A colleague offered to buy me a bag of grass seed every week if that would guaranteee a dry summer. Mercifully the rain came again and a soft green fluff is now appearing.

But why does it have to be so Cooooold?

  4. Charles says:

All this rain should be playing havoc with the ford, I think we should be told.
