Nothing to say really, except that the squash harvest is in. Having really struggled to grow these at first, there’s something extra pleasing about them now. Well, that and the fact that you cook them loaded with butter and pepper…

And talking of things I struggle to grow, what on earth am I supposed to do with my sole surviving celeriac? Can’t even remember why I planted celeriac now…

Yes, I would say cook with potatoes (half and half, celeriac cut into smaller pieces than the spuds as it takes longer to cook) and then mash together with butter and a little crème fraiche.

ooh crème fraiche, now you’re talking

  5. presumably you forgot it began with c…. I would cook it with about equal quantity of potato and mash with butter and black pepper. Good with sausages, fried onions, and maybe even gravy…
