The compost heap, on the other hand, is looking impressively large. I think I’ve said this before, but if you start thinking of your gardening progress purely in the amount of plant material added to the compost heap, then it all seems a lot less futile.

    Aha but at least the sun came out when you had finished. I found that the winter had killed off my lavender and the sage. Sage is as tough as old boots so it must have been cold.
